False Positive Test Result – Grey Gables Long-Term Care Home

The Grey Bruce Health Unit confirms a false positive result in a previously announced

COVID-19 lab report for a staff member in Grey Gables long-term care home.

After the initial positive test result was received on May 17, the sample was re-tested and second and third tests were undertaken. Those results all came back negative.

No outbreak declaration is required.

At the time of the first result, the individual went into self-isolation at their place of residence and the home was notified.

All outbreak protocols, case management and contact tracing activities were put in place to ensure safety while waiting for the later results.
